Day 20. 20th January Bible Commentary And Summary With Dr. Toyin Taken From The Book Of Job.

POVERTYPHOBIC, CRISISPHOBIA, AND BEING SUICIDAL

JOB CHAPTERS 51-27, 61-30, & 71-21 .                                                                                CHAPTER 5

Job’s friend Eliphaz’s continues speaking to Job.

Some of his words are rebuking Job, somewhere encouraging words and somewhere CURSE QUENCHERS. Please read v.1-27.

Let’s examine a few of his words:

REBUKE:

v.1. In your state you have none to help you , none to turn to. Even the ‘saints’ would harbour you! They wouldn’t respond to you . We are here and you wag your tongue! v.2. “Resentment, wrath kills a fool ...” he responds to Jobs words

v.8. “But if I were you, I would appeal to God, ... and commit my cause to him”. He is urging Job to APPEAL TO GOD. Having God-fearing friends who are not on about making the matter worse or cursing is of primary importance. Nor leading you to 'alternative solutions' - such as 'diabolical solutions'; temporary solutions often with grave consequences, joining the occult, or witchcraft; those practices are abominable and detestable to the Almighty God.

Some who have financial crisis, become povertypobic; for financial gains they have ventured into some or all of those evil practices including money rituals and or scamming, phishing, hacking other people's privacy. If this is your practice stop such. Those that do such must know that they do that against the Almighty God. Pressure is not an excuse for sin.

CURSE QUENCHERS;

Avoid being povertypobic and or Crisisphobic learn the curse/calamity quenchers I have highlighted some below,

v.9-10. Because he performs wonders & miracles that are unsearchable! He sends rain. This is an expression of hope. (Read v.9-10)

v.11-16. The lowly he sets on high, ..., He thwarts the plans of the crafty,.... (v.12). He takes the wise in their own craftiness, ....Darkness comes upon them ...(v.13-14). He saves the needy from the powerful (v.15). So that they have hope and “injustice shuts its mouth” (v.16).

v.18. “He wounds but he also binds up, (v.19. He will rescue you from calamities”).

v.24. “You will know that your tent is secure and take stock of your property and find nothing missing”.

HE ENCOURAGES JOB TO REJOICE!

v.17. Happy is the man whom God corrects, don’t despise the discipline of  El Shaddai (Almighty). In famine he shall redeem you and save you from the sword in wars (v.20).

The verse below I would classify as being prophetic at its best interpretation. But would they show Job more the reality of his calamity at the instance they were spoken?

  • “You will laugh at destruction” (v.22)

CHAPTER 6-7

JOB SPEAKS:

Job acknowledges he is overpowered with grieve and anguish of soul, and that he is talking without thinking (61-3).

Somehow, Job knows this could only have been allowed by God (v.4). But he knows the calamity of the magnitude he suffers comes through sin, and demands to know his sins IF he had committed any, (720-21) this proves that Job isn’t a self-righteous man. He appeals to God (720) in desperation (v.21).

Job appears to be transferring aggression or talking at his friends, what he couldn’t do to God. (621, 24-25, 26-27

He appeals (628-30, 71-3).

SLEEPLESS NIGHTS, DREAMS, AND SUICIDAL THOUGHTS:

You will expect that in crisis you will become restless, have intrusive memories, want to throw in the towel, and perhaps prefer to die, Job did.

  1. 74. “When I lie down I think ... The night drags on, and I toss and turn on my bed until dawn” 714.
  • Frightening dreams and terrifying visions.

  1. 715. Suicidal thoughts

Read what I call the Curse Quenchers know them and memorize some. We live in a spiritual world. We do not need to be worried about demons or spells. But we need to know the word of God and refrain from cursing others. Words of encouragement are the best.

NIGHT:

Be it friends, neighbours, whatever the scope of our association, God is the Greatest Light and Influence on our eventualities (note that I said eventualities, not realities). Let’s live in his transforming light. He knows what our brothers and sisters do not. And his light is greater than all. Plus he is the ultimate judge.

  • Job seem to have stumbled being blameless!

“Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light, and there is nothing in them to make them stumble.” 1 John 210
