A GREAT MULTITUDE!

REVELATION 19^1-21

VICTORY FOR A GREAT MULTITUDE    

John in his next revelation “heard what sounded like the roar of a great multitude in heaven shouting:   

“Hallelujah!   

Salvation and glory and power belong to our God, for true and just are his judgements. He has condemned the great prostitute who corrupted the earth by her adulteries.   

He has avenged on her the blood of his servants” v.1-2   

The host that sits around God’s throne also joined — “The 24 four elders and the four living creates standing there, fell to their faces and cried: Amen Hallelujah!   

The praise continued (v.5), v.6-8 —And it was about the wedding of the lamb;   

“Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory for the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.” v.7; Then the angel said to me,  

“Write this: Blessed are those who are invited to the wedding supper of the Lamb! ‘These are the true words of God’.” v.9 The angel called us fellows (v.10)   

FAITHFUL AND TRUE   

“I saw heaven standing open and there before me was a white Horse, whose rider is called faithful and true. With justice he judges and wages war. The rider is also called the word of God. The armies of heaven were following him, riding on white horses and dressed in fine linen, white and clean.” v.14   

His branded clothing mentioned —(v.16)— with this on them and his thigh;   

“KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS”   

v.17-21   

There was war.    

The Beast and the kings of the earth rose up to fight against the rider on the horse and his army but they were captured. The false prophet who had performed the signs and the beast “were thrown alive into the fiery lake of burning sulfur.” v.20;  “The rest were taken by the sword coming out of the mouth of the rider on the horse, and all the birds gorged themselves on their flesh” v.21   

REVELATIONS 20^1-15   

THE DRAGON LOCKED UP FOR A THOUSAND YEARS — v.1-3.  Thrones for the martyrs of faith seen   

(v.4);    

During this period is the 1^st Resurrection for only the martyrs of faith.  During this period is the 1^st resurrection. (v.5-6)    

• Satan is to be released for a while (see v.3d, 7-8). He will deceive many and use them for battle against God’s people (v.7-10)

THE DEAD BOTH GREAT AND SMALL STOOD BEFORE THE  GREAT WHITE THRONE— And books were opened; each person was judged according to what they had done. (v.12-13)   

“Then death and Hades, and those whose name was not found written in the book of life was throne into the lake of fire — The lake of fire is the second death” v.14-15   

REVELATION 21^1-24   

EVERYTHING WILL BECOME NEW   

“Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the 1st heaven and the   

1st earth had passed away, and there were no longer any sea. I saw the   

Holy City, the new Jerusalem” v.1-2^a-b.  And the bridegroom relationship God desires took place. (v.3-4).  He promised to make all things knew and testified (v.5).   

“He said to me: it is done who stop I am the alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of living water.” v.6   

(v.8)   

Heaven celebrates the wife of the Lamb – v.9-14.   

Historic brides named the 12 tribes of Israel and the 12 Apostle (v.12,14)   

The new Jerusalem described and those that can access it stated (v.15-27)   

“Nothing impure will ever enter, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the lambs book of life.” v.27   

REVELATION 22^1-21   

• “Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the lamb down the middle of the great street of the city.” v.1-2a

• I John, am the one who heard and saw these things. And when I had heard and seen them, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who had been showing them to me. But he said to me, “Don't do that! I am a fellow servant with you and with your fellow prophets and with all who keep the words of this scroll. Worship God!” v.8-9 
• God introduces himself as “Alpha and Omega, The First and the Last, the
• Beginning and the End” v.13
• Spiritual separation of God’s people and their rights to the tree of life. (v.14)
• Jesus spoke saying “I, Jesus, Have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.” (v.16) 

Revelation 22  

Pray – “Come, Lord Jesus.” Amen.

GOD GAVE SOUVENIRS    

REVELATION 15^1-8   

“I saw in heaven another great and marvellous sign: seven angels with the seven plagues—last, because with them God’s wrath is completed. And I saw what looked like a sea of glass…” (v.1-2)   

GOD GAVE SOUVENIRS TO THE VICTORIOUS — who did not succumb to the   pressure of the mark of the beast, its image nor its name were given harps by God,

“and they sang the song of Moses and all the lamb (v.3-4; ref: Psalm 111^2,3,  

Deuteronomy 32⁴, Jeremiah 10⁷, Psalm 86⁹, 98² — The One Year Chronological Bible pg.1574 footnote)   

THE TABERNACLE OF THE COVENANT LAW (the temple) was revealed in heaven.  “Out of the temple came seven angels with the seven plagues.” v.6.  And one of the four living creatures gave the 7 angels golden bowls filled with the wrath of God.  And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from his power and no one could enter the temple until the seven plagues of the seven angels were completed.” v.8   

REVELATION 16^1-21   

“Then I heard a loud voice from the temple saying to the angels, “Go, pour out the seven bowls of God’s wrath on the earth” v.1   

The seven angels took their turns causing calamity as each poured out his bowl;   

The 1st on land — “ugly, festering sores broke out on the people who had the mark of the beast and worshiped its image.” v.2 — Note that the pleasures the beast give is temporal.   

The 2nd on the sea and everything in the sea died (v.3)   

The third on the rivers and spring of water and they became blood. v.4.  At this the angel in charge of the waters declared; GOD IS JUST IN JUDGEMENT. Because of the blood of God’s holy people and prophets were shed (v.5-6; read v.7)   

The 4th angel poured out its bowl on the sun and “the sun was allowed to scorch people with fire” v.8   

“the people remained in their sins” Sad, they curse  God.  No repentance!    

The 5th angel pour its bowl on the throne of the beast; “and its kingdom plunged into darkness.” v.5.   They coursed God in heaven in their pain refusing repentance for their sins.   

“Look, I come like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake and remains clothed, so as not to go naked and be shamefully exposed” v.15   

IT IS DONE!   

The seventh angel      

v.—17 “The seventh angel pulled out his bowl into the air, and out of the temple came a voice from the throne, saying “It is done!”    

After this, was a great earthquake like never.    

“The great city split into three parts, and the cities of the nations collapsed. God remembered Babylon the great and gave her the cup filled with the wine of the fury of his wrath” v.19   

“The Island fled away and even the mountains could not be found. People cursed God on account of the plague of hail, because the plague was so terrible” {v.20-21 extracts)   

REVELATION 17^1-18   

THE GREAT PROSTITUTE — who sits by many waters revealed, the truth that the kings of the earth and peoples commit adultery with her was also revealed. More was revealed, read about another woman sitting on a scarlet beast, her heavily adorned dress and golden cup filled with abomination in her hand, and the writing on her head:    

“BABYLON THE GREAT    

THE MOTHER OF PROSTITUTES   

AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH” v.5   

“She was drunk with the blood of God’s holy people “ v.6,  She has affluence, (read about what she rides and the kings with her (v.7-13), many of whom have very temporal powers manifest.   

They will war against the lamb (v.14)   

HER WOES AND EVENTUALITIES — all those with her eventually ruined and consumed her.   

All these are the plans of God. (v.15-17) Symbols:    

• Water — People, Nations, and language v.15
• “The woman you saw is the great city that rules over the kings of the earth.” v.18

REVELATION 18^1-24   

FALLEN IS BABYLON THE GREAT (v.2 ref Isaiah 21⁹)   

This was proclaimed by an angel, he had great authority, and the earth was illuminated by his splendour.”   

Babylon had become a dwelling for demons, familiar spirits, unclean birds and animals, and ‘the kings of the earth committed adultery with her, and the merchants of the earth grew rich from her exclusive luxuries” v.3   

A CALL FROM HEAVEN to come out of such demonic agreements, so as to be spared, lest they partake of her judgement.    

“Therefore, in one day her plagues will overtake her:  Death, mourning and famine.   She will be consumed by fire, for mighty is the Lord God who judges her.” v.8   

The kings who had her and all who partook of her, weep and shouted her woes (v.9-

15)   

Read v.21-24 of her final woes, and the act of an angel for her final destruction and shame of her magic spells, with which all the nations are were led astray.   

NIGHT:

“The gifts also endowed them with supernatural powers. As I noticed there was no training or rehearsals!

“Those who had been victorious over the beast and its image and over the number of its name. They held harps given them by God and sang the song of god’s servant Moses and of the Lamb.”

“Great and marvellous are your deeds,

Lord God Almighty.

Just God Almighty.

Just and true are your ways,

King of the nations.

Who will not fear you, Lord,

And bring glory to your name?

For you alone are holy.

AVOID the mark of the beast.  The mark will be forced, so that both great and small have the mark, number or the name of the beast on. (Revelation   

13^16-18).    

Yet we have the capacity to refuse to take on the mark or the number - (Revelation 14^9-11). Gain victory by exercising patience relentlessly.   

REVELATION 11^1-19   

THE UNPREDICTABLE NATURE AND PURPOSES OF GOD   

The visions of John continues; as he was given a reed and instructed in the vision: “Go and measure the temple of God and the altar, with its worshippers. But exclude the outer court; do not measure it, because it has been given to the Gentiles.”   

• Note the Gentiles—The unexpected.
• After them, two witnesses (prophets) were appointed and they prophesied with great power - such that withheld or allowed rain, “turn the waters into blood and strike the earth with every kind of plague as often as they want.” (v.6); They exhibited strength for a given time.

Then Abyss released beast that attacked them and overpowered them (v.7-10)   

v.10-14 GOD TOOK  THEM UP   

Because they were from God, their shame and humiliation brought calamity upon the inhabitants of the earth, after the limited time that God had allowed (v.7-13)   

• “Seven thousand people were killed in an earthquake, and the survivors were terrified and gave glory to the God of heaven.” v.13. That marked the end of the second woe.

Since we do not know when, and what God is doing from the beginning to the end (Ecclesiastes 3¹¹).  We do have the capacity to do good works, justice, love the brotherhood and sisterhood, express compassion, be generous, as long as we have consciousness.  And always ask for divine mercy.   

v.15 — “The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in  heaven, which said:    

‘The kingdom of the world has come  the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah,  and he will reign for ever and ever’.”  Then the 24 elders “fell on their faces and worshipped the One Who is and Who was (read the full wording of their worship v.17-18) —    

They appreciated God for the rewards for his prophets and those who feared his name when living.   

“Then God’s temple in heaven was opened, and within his temple was seen the ark of his covenant.  And there came flashes of lightning, rumblings, peaks of thunder, an earthquake and a severe hailstorm.” v.19   

REVELATION 12^1-17   

In this chapter some wonders appeared:   

• A WOMAN PREGNANT AND IN TRAVAIL clothed with the sun
• A GREAT DRAGON with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its heads.” v.3. And they would devour her child a male son, but God snatched up the child to heaven.   

This is our reality — That person suffering, temptation, threats, hate, crime.  Every single child, every life, person, is a testimony capable of doing great but the devil prefers the opposite.  Christ came teeming with God, conquered.   

This the devil fought back but lost; FELL to the earth, he will always loose (v.7-9)   

THE VOICE OF VICTORY was heard! — read the declaration v.10-12   

v.13-17   

The only accomplishment of the devil since his fall is war, and wars, and more wars.  It is our task to hold fast to our testimonies and live for God. The wise believer will be accomplishing great things for God. While warding off the ancient Serpent — (the devil)—loser.   

REVELATION 13^1-18   

BEAST IN THE SEA manifest on earth— see its description (v.1b-2a-b)   

The dragon (also known as serpent/devil) shared its power and authority with it (v.2).   It had sustained wounds from my prayers and yours, and the wars it frequently has with God’s army (angels) — the wounds had been healed (v.3)   

Sadly, many people are awed by the beast; it had crowns, spoke proudly, and fought against God’s holy people.  Exercising authority across the 195 nations of the world and the godless worshipped the beast (v.7-8)   

It is a choice though! (Read v.9-10) —To be victorious we require “patient endurance and faithfulness”   

v.11-18  

THE SECOND BEAST EMERGED FROM THE EARTH — “It had two horns like   a lamb, but it spoke like a dragon. It exercised all the authority of the first beast on its behalf, and made the earth and its inhabitants worship the first beast, whose fatal wounds had been healed.” v.11-12.  It came to support and cover-up for the 1st beast — for any of its known sufferings, wounds, and exposed defeat. The second beast is man — any leader, influential persons yielded to injustice, discrimination, systems that segregate and differentiate among mankind.  Their crave for power and control got so bad they began to tag people with marks/numbers on their hand or foreheads (v.17)   

• “This calls for wisdom. Let’s the person who has insight calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man. That number is 666.” v.18   

REVELATION 14^1-20   

“JESUS STANDING ON MOUNT ZION AND THE 144,000 BELIEVERS   

WITH HIM— they had his name and his Father’s name on their foreheads” v.1 The sounds heard were nice:    

• Rushing water
• Harpist playing   

They sang a new song! Before the host of heaven, “No one could learn the song except the 144,000 who had been redeemed from the earth.” v.3   

They were redeemed because they were steadfast, undefiled. “ They were purchased from among mankind and offered as firstfruits to God and the Lamb.  No lie was found in their mouths; they are blameless.” v.5   

v.6: “Then I saw another angel flying in midair, and he had the eternal Gospel to  proclaim to those who live on the earth—to every nation, tribe, language, and people.” He called for the fear and worship of God and proclaimed the time of judgement.   

The second angel (v.8) — proclaimed the fall of Babylon (reference: Isaiah 21:9)   

The third angel — warns against obtaining the mark of the beast.  Read the full wrath of God against that act (v.9-11)   

• ACTION REQUIRED: Patience (v.12)
• The great fortune of the believers that die proclaimed, and discussed —“ their deeds will follow them” (v.13). We must therefore not sorrow hopelessly when a beloved sleeps.    
• While living on earth we must remember that our end (eternity) holds fab things and that should give us joy and strength to carry on.

The next vision;   

(v.14-20)   

THE SON OF MAN WITH SHARP SICKLE IN HIS HANDS — then an angel announced it’s time for harvest and the earth was harvested — More Angels joined harvesting ( v.17-20).   

NIGHT:  

Ponder of the choices the devil has presented to you, and how you overcame; refusing to go into captivity!   

“If anyone goes into captivity, into captivity they will go.   

If anyone is to be killed with the sword, with the sword they will be killed.” 13¹⁰   

We must be ready to wait on God. Seeing all these wars. Which are not just perceived but revealed.

ANGELS CONTROLLING THE CLIMATE CHANGE

REVELATION 7^1-17   

FOUR ANGELS SET TO CONTROL THE CLIMATE—They will control the wind and   harm the earth (v.1).  A fifth angel appeared “having the seal of the living God.”   

v.2;  He stopped them from acting until he had put a seal on the foreheads of all who

serve God—living good godly lives (of the tribe of Israel—now modern day believers).    

144,000 were sealed (that number is symbolic) — (v.4-8)   

A GREAT MULTITUDE —AND EVERY NATION, TRIBE, LANGUAGE—DRESSED IN WHITE ROBES WHITE PALMS in their hands worshipped in these words:  “Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb.” v.10   

ALL AROUND GOD: “All the angels, the 24 elders and 4 living creatures fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God, saying: AMEN! PRAISE AND  GLORY AND WISDOM AND THANKS AND HONOR AND POWER AND STRENGTH BE TO GOD FOR EVER AND EVER. AMEN!” v.11-12   

A DISCUSSION WITH JOHN — as one of the elders questioned him — if he knew those dressed in white and where they were from (v.13),    

“John answered ‘Sir, you know.’” v.14   

He told him they were those who have “washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.” v.14. Read more about them and how blessed and fortunate they are — v.15-17   

• “They are before the throne of God and serve him day and night in his temple; and he who sits on the throne will shelter them with his presence.”v.15
• They are provided for, they enjoy their state of being, they will be comforted (v.16 ref: Isaiah 49:10, 25:8)

REVELATION 8^1-13   

OUR PRAYERS ARE UPHELD IN AN ANGEL’S HAND, IN HEAVEN BEFORE GOD  

— the seven seal was opened.   

“When he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them.“ v.1-2   

The angel with the golden censer offered our prayers (v.3). And as he offered them they went up with smoke of the incense (Read more v.4-5)   

7 TRUMPETS TO SOUND   

“Then the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared to sound them” v.6   

In today’s study chapters, six of the seven trumpets were sound; (Revelation 8:1-13, Revelation 9:1-21) each sound had devastating effect on the earth — on all that support existence—living.   

In the midst of those were also three woes proclaimed which combined forces with the trumpets sounds. (Revelation 8:13) The 5th combined with a woe (9:1-12); the 6th combined with a woe too (9:13-21)   

• Hell let loose, man was tormented but doors with the seal we’re untouched           When the six trumpet sounded woes a third of mankind was killed (9:1419). Yet the rest of mankind persisted in idolatry, magic, sexual immorality, and theft refusing repentance.   

REVELATION 10^1-11   

“Then I saw another mighty angel coming down from heaven. He was robed in a cloud, with a rainbow above his head; his face was like the Sun, and his legs were like fiery pillars. He was holding a little scroll’ v.1-2a   

—When he shouted, the voice of the seven  thunder spoke.” v.3. But what they spoke was sealed it was not written down.    

After this, it was declared that all that the prophets had spoken would no more be delayed (v.5-7)   

(v.9-10) John was instructed to “Go, and take the scroll that lies open in the hand of the angel who is standing on the sea and on the land.“ v.8   

He was given the little scroll and instructed to eat it —sweet to taste, sour in the stomach.   

• Then he was instructed “you must prophesied again about many peoples, nations, languages, and kings.” v.11

NIGHT:  

“For the lamb at the centre of the throne will be their shepherd; he will lead them to springs of living water. And God will wipe away every tear from your eyes.” Revelation 7¹⁷

JESUS OPENED THE BOOK   

Today we continue with the revelation of John; starting with the revelation to the church in Sardis.   

REVELATION 3^1-22

WAKE-UP!   

To the church in Sardis: “These are the words of him who holds the seven spirits of God and the seven stars. I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead.” v.1   

The church is famous and perceived as a vibrant and active church in Sardis but spiritually dead.   

The divine sends an urgent wake-up call for repentance. With warming: “if you don’t wake up, I will come like a thief, and you will not know at what time I will come to you.” v.3   

DRESSED IN WHITE; In this church, God spotlights a few devout to him who has not compromised. “They have not soiled their clothes, they are worthy. Their names are permanently in the book of life and Christ will personally acknowledge them before God the Father and the angels. (v.6)   

• It is important to take repentance immediately God confronts us with sin. The call to repent is favour and expression of love.   
• We must beware of this kind of churches with make-believe fire!

TO THE CHURCH IN PHILADELPHIA.   

“These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut and what he shuts no one can open.” v.1.    

They have divine approval, the keys has been used in their favour. For their good godly deeds.  They have little strength, yet they have not denied Christ.  Therefore, he states; “I will make those who are of the synagogue of Satan, who claim to be Jews though they are not, are liars—I will make them come and fall down at your feet and acknowledge that I have lived you” v.9   

They will also not be part of “an hour” ( figurative of a time frame — a period) of temptation. It is better to have a flourishing relationship with God so as not to be a part of those to be tried; so that no one takes your crown (v.11). Because from history it is unlike they survive. Read further promises made (v.11-13)   

TO THE CHURCH IN LAODICEA (v.14)  NEITHER HOT NOR COLD!   

“They are rich, conceited, and boastful, priding themselves in what they have acquired — God sees them as wretched, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked.   

They need God to become rich; “I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see.” v.18   

A Call To Repentance (v.19-20)   

“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and open the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.” v.20.    

Promises for the victorious (v.21)   

CHAPTER 4:^1-11   

FURTHER SPIRITUAL ENCOUNTERS: “After this I looked, and there before me was a door standing open in heaven. And the voice I had first heard speaking to me like a trumpet said, “Come up here and I will show you what must take place after this.” (v.1); As he went in the spirit he saw a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it ( see description v.3), around him are  24 Elders seated on thrones, dressed in white  and “had crowns of gold on their heads.” v.4   

And the seven spirits of God were present there — it wasn’t an inactive throne.  There were other living creatures there all praising God night and day in these words (v.8); “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come.”    

Then the 24 Elders “lay their crowns before the throne worship him who lives forever saying “You are worthy, our Lord and God,  to receive glory and honour and power, for you created all things,  and by your will they were created  and have their being.” v.11   

CHAPTER 5^1-14   

A BOOK WITH WRITING ON BOTH SIDES TO BE OPENED!   

“Then I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll with writing on both sides and sealed with seven seals” v.1   

A great angel sought for the seal to opened but none on earth and in heaven worthy to open or look inside it (v.3) — and John wept (v.4)   

Then he was comforted by an elder saying “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.” v.5 niv (book kjv).   

JESUS ROSE TO THE TASK — LOOKING LIKE A LAMB that had been  slain (see how he is described v.6-8) and he was surrounded by heavenly beings and the 24 Elders in worship.    

• Note that our prayers are upheld in heaven before God, they are incense. (v.8e)

They sang read the lyrics of the song —(v.9)   

“Then I looked and heard the voice of many angels, numbering thousands upon thousands, and 10,000×10,000.  They encircled the throne and the living creatures and elders.” v.11   

Again they sang “in a loud voice:   

‘Worthy is the Lamb, that was slain,    

to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength  and  honor and glory and praise!’” v.12   

As they did, “he heard all creatures in heaven, on and under the earth, on the sea, and all that is in them, saying:   

‘To him who sits on the throne and to the lamb be praise and honor and glory and power, forever and ever!’“ v.13   

• “The living creatures said, ‘Amen,’ and the elders fell down and worshiped.” v.14

CHAPTER 6^1-17   

NOW THE SEVEN SEALS   

The 1st seal opened by Christ reveal purity, holiness, an apt Conqueror and he was given a crown. The conqueror is Christ.   

• “I looked, and there before me was a white horse! It's rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest” v2

The 2nd reveal:- a horse set for battle with him is strength, authority, and powers. Wars, chaos, and anarchy (v.3-4)   

The 3rd revealed: scarcity, greed, yet the Lord’s will be preserved (v.5-6).   

The 4th seal reveal satanic schemes claiming lives through wars, famine, and plagues, beasts will also play a part. Claiming up to a fourth of the earth's inhabitants (man). (v.7-8)   

The 5th seal revealed martyrs of faith seeking justice; they were given white robes, and informed they await more martyrs to come (v.9-11)   

The 6th Seal opened reveal an earthquake, the sun had changed and even the stars dropped, the heavens rolled up. Mountains and Islands removed. On earth both great and small “hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains.   

(v.15).  They called to The mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the lamb!  For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can withstand it?” v.16-17

359. 26^th December Bible Commentary With Toyin Ojo Taken From The Books Of Jude And Revelation.

THE REVELATION OF JOHN   

JUDE 1^1-25   

Jude’s opening greetings of faith, prays and shares of mercy, peace, and love in surpassing measure to those who have accepted the call of Christ (being Christians) and are loved by God (v.1-2)   

GRACE HAS BECOME TO SOME (The Shrewd) A LICENSE TO SIN—

BEWARE!   

He, therefore, writes to fellow heirs of salvation with a sense of obligation. Stating that, these condemned persons, we have been forewarned about long ago (v.4) — They are in manifestation now.   

Note that condemnation that leads to destruction always comes to those who do not believe in God but live through disobedience — previous examples are The disobedient people being led out of Egypt, and Fallen angels. In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire (v.7)   

Those who defile their bodies, those who take about spiritual things they do not understand and perceive things through their carnal minds will all be destroyed (v.810).   

We must note that evil manifests in human hearts in different ways, Cain, and   

Balaam were cited — (Read more about their futile outcomes in parables v.12-13)   

ADVISE AND REMINDERS   

Enoch has prophesied about them — God’s judgment against them v.14-16 [this prophecy is said to be in the book of Enoch; Enoch was a writer but not of the Bible. (See The One Year Chronological Bible pg.1568 footnotes)]   

• “These people are grumblers, and faultfinders, they follow their own evil desires; they boast about themselves and flatter others for their own advantage” v.16
• But you “keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life” v.21
• Have compassion; labour to rescue some from fire (v.22); but never get entangled (v.23)

JUDE CLOSES THIS LETTER WITH RESOUNDING PRAISE   

“To him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you before his glorious presence without fault and with great joy— to the only God our Saviour be glory, majesty, power, and authority, through Jesus Christ our Lord, before all ages, now and forevermore! Amen.” v.24-25   

REVELATION 1^1-20   

THE TIME IS NEAR – LEND YOUR EARS!   

The book of revelation; an account of the visions of John which were revealed through an encounter with the divine. Here we see a shift from how we have been taught through to previous new testament books to adapt the prophets’   

He writes “to the Seven Churches in the Province of Asia:  Grace and peace to you from him who is, and who was, and who is to come, and from the 7 spirits before his throne, and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.” v.4-5   

(v.6) — We are a kingdom; the body of Christ must realize this.   

The revelation communicates that each Church has an angel-in-charge. For our modern context, Seven is also the number of perfection, the Seven Churches are symbolic of the well-spread gospel —Also see v.20 for a detailed description of the mystery.   

• Seven stars — are angels of the seven churches
• Seven lampstands — The seven churches

John perhaps exiled for preaching. He wrote from the Island of Patmos(v.9)   

Apostle John was drawn in the spirit while in solitude by a voice that introduced himself saying “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever!  And I hold the keys of death and Hades” v.17-18   

And was instructed to write what he sees on a scroll.   

Many 21^st century believers want this unique experience without diligence, commitment to God, and obedience to his commands.   

• Note that John was committed to sharing the testimony of Jesus. When he was exposed to this revelation.

REVELATION CHAPTER 2   

EMPLOY YOUR EARS!; EACH CHURCH BEING COMMANDED    

TO THE CHURCHES IN EPHESUS these was written;   

“These are the words of him who holds the seven golden lampstands”   Their perseverance and lack of tolerance for heresy were noted. But they have forsaken their first love (v.4). They need to repent (v.5) and if they do, they become victorious   

and he made this promise; “Whoever has ears, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the  one who is victorious, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.” v.7   

TO THE CHURCH IN SMYRNA:- “These are the words of him who is the First and the Last, who died and came to life again” v.8.  A divine acknowledgment of their suffering, poverty, and the presence of a slanderous counterfeit church in the city. (v.9). More trouble coming — be prepared; they were warned. And encouraged to   

“be faithful. Even to the point of death, and I will give you life as your victor’s crown”  (v.10).  More promises for the VICTORIOUS (v.11)   

TO THE CHURCHES IN PERGAMUM   

“To the angel of the church in Pergamum write: These are the words of him who has the sharp, double-edged sword. I know where you live where Satan has his throne. Yet you remain true to my name.”   

It is a city where satanic activities are fierce yet some have remained in the faith uncompromisingly, despite some being put to death (Antipas was) v.13.  Some have heeded deception (v.14) and heresy (v.15); “Nevertheless, I have a few things against you: There are some among you who hold to the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to entice the Israelites to sin so that they ate food sacrificed to idols  and committed sexual immorality.” v.14   

A call for repentance or opt for battle with the Lord.   

Promises to those who heed, include “some hidden manna. I will also give that person a white stone with

a new name on it, known only to the one who receives it.” v.17   

TO THE CHURCH IN THYATIRA:-   

“These are the words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet are like banished bronze.” v.18   

The church has been faithful in love, faith, service, perseverance better than they were at the beginning (v.19).  But they have allowed Jezebel in their midst.  “She calls herself a prophet.  By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols. I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling.” v.20-21. God will cast her and those who  copy her into the same suffering. And strike her children. “Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you, according to your deeds.” v.23   

Time to let go! If you have learned those Satanic deep secrets. You are burdened and suffer thereby!   

v.24-26: If you have not bought into those “Satan’s so-called deep secrets, ‘I will not  impose any other burden on you, except to hold on to what you have until I come.” Read of the awesome rewards from v.26-28   

NIGHT:  

Matthew 7^7-8; Promise that whosoever ask the Father, will receive what they ask. Don’t go elsewhere to ask.

GOD’S LOVE   

1st JOHN 4^7-21   

PROVE GOD LIVES IN YOU BY LOVING ONE ANOTHER (v.4-12); This is the authentic way to show!; Ably demonstrated by God when he sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him.  This is love: not that we love  

God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. (v.910)   

John gives an eyewitness account — that is, his writings and his communication should be noted as one who lived, walked, and worked with Christ witnessing the supernatural heavenly signs about him. (v.14)   

• (v.8, v.16) — GOD IS LOVE, “God is Love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.” v.16
• We love because he first loved us (v.19)

We could sum this up in meaning — when love is expressed correctly, and in a determined way; unwavering; it is proof of the Spirit of God given us.    

Such a person publicly and privately, in all given circumstances testifies that Jesus is the Son of God.  Such a person is also confident, lives like Jesus, and has no fear.   

“There is no fear in love.  But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.” v.18   

CAUTION: “Whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen.” v.20   

THE COMMAND IS: “Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister” v.21   

1 JOHN 5^1-21   

Faith is confirmed through our beliefs:    

• That Jesus is Christ, and we love the father and the Son.  And if we love him we would keep his commands. And this is the mark of victory for us. “For everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.” v.4   

There are three things (spiritual elements) that  testify in heaven (Read from v.6-10) —   

Jesus came by Blood and Water.  Then the Spirit testified of him.   

IN HEAVEN: these three are in agreement testifying; The Father, the Word and the Son (v.7)   

ON EARTH: The Spirit, the Water, and the Blood (v.9)   

It is important to believe God’s testimony, otherwise you hold a view point that disputes God.  And that’s not where you want to be either on earth or in heaven.    

“And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his son.  Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the son of God does not have life.” v.11-12   

YOU HAVE ETERNAL LIFE! — This is what Elder John wants us to know; And

to approach God with confidence knowing “that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. With this assurance have what we asked of him” v.14-15   

v.16-21   

PRAY FOR A BROTHER OR SISTER THAT COMMITS SIN — earnestly for  divine intervention to spare their life. Sin exposes the believer to the evil one who  

has great influence on this world — systems.    

But we keep charge through Christ and are secure even on earth.  By him, we (that is God’s people) identify him as true.    

v.21 — Therefore, do not succumb to idols, wizardry, familiar spirits, heresy, or  threats.    

2 JOHN 1^1-13   

This is John’s letter of commendation and admonition to love one another and to walk in obedience to God’s commands. (v.6).  The latter poses as a new command.   

AVOID THE ANTICHRIST: They do not believe that Jesus Christ was made manifest in the flesh.  Don’t associate with them — though they move around like apostles!  “_{Anyone who welcomes them shared in their wicked work.}” v.11   

John closes his letter sharing greetings and hopes to visit for a face-to-face retreat (v.12-13).   

3rd JOHN 1^1-5   

The apostle Paul here writes as an Elder to his dear friend who is also his son in the Lord; Commending reports of his well-being and his famous testimony of good deeds within the fold. (v.3) The news gave him great joy!   

“Dear friend you are faithful in what you are doing for the brothers and sisters, even though they are strangers to you.” v.5   

He admonished him to continue supporting ministers, workers in the vineyard, even those who are strangers but witnesses of the truth.  That could mean in modern church context supporting Christians, missions, pastors, evangelists, who do not belong to your brand of church.   

DIOTREPHIS earned a contrary report — he is malicious, hostile to decent and devout ministers of God and he is actively slanderous. (v.9-10)   

Elder John testifies that Demetrius has a good report in the body of Christ.    

He closes his letter expressing his desire to visit for a face-to-face retreat (v.14) Finally, he shares peace and godly warmth.   

NIGHT:

God is love! get familiar with this.

357. 24^th December Bible Commentary With Toyin Ojo Taken From The Book 1^st John.

THE WORD OF LIFE    

The apostle John sounds fatherly, approving, and persuasive.    

1 JOHN 1^1-10   

“That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes,  which we have looked at and our hands have touched — this we proclaim concerning the Word of life.” (v.1). The apostle John in this chapter encourages the believer; bearing an eyewitness account of Christ and the Father and of eternal life revealed.    

Principally, that all who have come to him who is light must become same. Stating that:   

“If we claim to have fellowship with him and yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth. But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.” v.6-7   

Truly, this calls for Joy because we all require forgiveness of sin — all who claim they have no sin are liars.    

“If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word is not in   

us.” v.10  

CHAPTER 2^1-29   

JESUS ATONES THE SIN OF EVERYONE   

John continues to emphasize the need to claim redemption and fasten up to abstain from sin.    

Christ is our advocate and he atones for the sins of the world too.  The prove of our love for God is obedience to his word.    

“Whoever claims to live in him must live as Jesus did.” v.6   

v.7-14   

A NEW COMMAND? NO, AN OLD ONE! YES A NEW COMMAND   

Admonishing God’s holy people as friends, the apostle John endears us one to another as brothers and sisters to love one another as God’s — living in the light.   

This, I consider the same as the Lord Jesus’ command to ‘Love Your Neighbour As Yourself ’.  John has used its manifestations as light — separation from darkness, and its expression as love.    

“Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light, and there is nothing in them to make them stumble.” v.10   

He went on to personalize his letter; with affirmation and prophetic blessings (v.1214)   

THE PLEASURES OF THE WORLD Vs God’s WILL?   

“Do not love the world or anything in the world.  For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world.” (v.15a,16). All we see in this world is passing away, but with God, we have everlasting life.   

MIND THE ANTICHRIST (v.18-19).   

You are anointed; And you know, embrace and profess the truth that Jesus is the Christ.  But the antichrist does not. “No one who denies the Son has the Father; whoever acknowledges the Son has the Father also.” v.23   

Do not be led astray, don’t lose what you have! Don’t lose your anointing—your heart is commanded by it.  So you “will remain in the Son and in the Father. And this is what he has promised us eternal life.” (v.24-25, also 26-27)   

“And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming.” (v.28).  He is righteous and “everyone who does what is right is born of him.” v.29   

• Reflect on this: Christians are known by their deeds.

CHAPTER 3^1-24   

God has lavished his love on us, being his children,   

therefore, we must be like Christ when he appears.  And while here on earth we  must not continue in sin.    

“Dear children, do not let anyone lead you astray. The one who does what is right is righteous, just as he is righteous.” (v.7)    

• From the above, we can distinguish between imputed righteousness and righteousness as a demand —works—a lifestyle that is.

Jesus appeared to defeat sin — our life must align with his victory. (v.8-10)   

“Anyone who does not do what is right is not God’s child, nor is anyone who does not love their brothers and sisters in Christ.” (v.10)   

v.11-24   

LET THERE BE INTENSE LOVE IN THE CHURCH    

(v.12)—Cain was evil, he did not do right, he furthered that by committing murder. Do not be like him.   

Love when expressed heals, and consoles us because of the hate in the world.  “We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love each other. Anyone who does not love remains in death.” v.14   

When we love and commit to loving God’s family, we are Christ-like because he laid down his life for us. (v.16)   

Does your heart affirm you? It should affirm or condemn you depending on how you act — The Spirit he gave us does this (v.19-24)   

• “Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him.” v.21-22

CHAPTER 4^1-6   

CONFIRMATION THAT MANY ARE FALSE PROPHETS BY APOSTLE  JOHN   

“Dear friends, do not believe every spirit, but let test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false Prophets has gone out into the world”   

(v.1),  However;   

• “Every spirit that acknowledges that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God” v.2
• The Antichrist disbelieves this. “You dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” v.4

Be conscious of the fact that the world has its own point of view. And the people of the world listen to the world; Let it be that the people of God (you) listen to godly truths — preached and taught. (v.5-6)   

  NIGHT:

“For this is the message you heard from the beginning: We should love one another.”  1John 3¹¹   

Sadly on this demand; the expression of unfeigned love we are below passing grades. Here is a call for repentance, and a draft of your plan of action in commitment to the most important command in the Word Of Life - which in our obedience we become light.

357. 23^rd December Bible Commentary With Toyin Ojo Taken From The Book Of 2nd Peter.

FABRICATED STORIES!   

Dearly beloved, it’s Simon Peter’s second letter today (3 chapters), I seem to be in a hurry to find truths and grace shared in these chapters — Let’s receive these together! Even as we continuously resist fabricated stories and wicked pastors.   

2 PETER 1^1-21   

He opens his letter “Simon Peter, a servant, and apostle of Jesus Christ; To those who through the righteousness of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours:” v.1; Then he shares a certain kind of grace and peace that flows only through knowing God and Christ. In order words it abounds to those who know God and Christ; the knowledge must be pure and practiced.    

We, thereby are enabled to obtain very great and precious promises and participate in the expression of divine nature undefiled by corrupt practices whether local in occurring civilization or globalization.   

“For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness, and to goodness, knowledge, and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness, and to godliness mutual affection and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” v.5-8;   

v.9-11 — Correctly influencing our world, confirming “our calling and election. And  receive a sure welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ." (v.11)   

v.12-21   

Simon Peter gives an eyewitness account of our Lord Jesus Christ to strengthen the faith and commitment of believers, earnestly desirous that, after his departure (death), the community of believers will wax stronger and stronger putting to mind his teachings (v.15), his eyewitness testimony ( read v.16-18).   

He also wants us to count on the prophets (ancient writings) knowing they were not crafted by human hearts (v.21)   

CHAPTER 2^:1-22   

FABRICATED STORIES — in ancient times there were many false prophets in the same vein there will emerge among you false teachers — many will be deceived being captivated by their fabricated stories, making the truth disputed — They will make merchandise of you — Beware. Note that their judgment speeds up!   

v.4-9   

THEIR JUDGEMENT IS SURE — see how sure their destruction is from the fallen angels forever undesirable to God — Cast into the dungeon of the spirit world.   

Also consider: NOAH “if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people, but protected Noah, a preacher of righteousness and seven others” (v.5), also the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah, yet Lot was rescued (v.9). In view of this never doubt or think that God does not know or identify the righteous.   

v.10-22   

PETER DESCRIBES THE UNGODLY, BOLD AND ARROGANT — as creatures of instinct, to be destroyed like animals.  Read some of their acts and conducts (v.13-16) — even as they seduce unstable Christians and are skilled at greed. They are 1% in with God and 99% in wickedness like Balaam the son of Bezer whom the divine rebuked through his donkey (v.15-16).  Read further on their living and condemnation as evildoers [v.17-22]   

Many of them were saved through the knowledge and grace of Christ but have “turn their backs on the sacred command that was passed unto them” v.21   

• “Of them the proverbs are true: ‘A dog returns to its vomit,’ and ‘A sow that is washed returns to her wallowing in the mud’.” v.22; Proverbs 20:11

CHAPTER 3^1-18   

“Dear friends, this is now my second letter to you. I have written both of them as reminders to stimulate you to wholesome thinking.” v.1   

Believers must therefore keep to heart the words of the prophets and the commands of our Lord Jesus Christ with which we are being admonished.  Bearing in mind that they will scoff at our belief in the second coming of Christ, and saying everything goes on just the same (v.3-4) — Deliberately disregarding the acts and signs seen since creation — THE WATERS AND THE WORD — have been for creation and judgment. Even that which is pending upon the world and the ungodly ( v.5-8)   

“But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like in thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some consider slowness. Instead, he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” v.8-9   

• 10a -12 — “But the Lord will come like a thief in the night.” Unexpectedly— Therefore live holy and godly lives. “As you look forward to the day of God and speed it’s coming” (v.12).   
• “In keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells” v.13

“So then dear friends, since you are looking forward to this make every effort to be found blameless and at peace with him.” v.14   

• What has been tagged slowness is actually the Lord’s patience which translates into salvation for many, seeing that he wants none to perish (see v.14-15a)

(v.15b-16) — Paul has written elaborately about these truths, but, some could not comprehend, while some choose to distort “as they do the other scriptures, to their own destruction” (v.16)   

v.17-18   

Closing his letter, he is urging us to secure our position in Christ by guarding against heresy and error. “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.” v.18   

NIGHT:

2 PETER 3^15-16   

“Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other scriptures, to their own destruction.”    

Many priests are operating under demonic auction — like Balaam who only hears God’s warnings a times.

WONDERFUL LIGHT   

Are you in his wonderful light or still encumbered with the acts of darkness? Let’s be encouraged together as God’s chosen people:   

1st PETER 2^4-25   

EMBRACING PRIESTHOOD   

“Christ is the Cornerstone in whom we trust and we are never put to shame (v.6; Isaiah 28:16).  “But to those who do not believe, ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,” {v.7, ref. Psalm 118:22}; Therefore they stumble (see v.8; Isaiah 8:14)   

We have become God’s “chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light” v.9   

v.11-12   

A CALL TO HOLY LIVING among pagans, so “that though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits   

us.” v.12   

SUBMIT TO GOVERNING AUTHORITIES. Even then embrace your   

freedom “but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as God’s slaves.

Show proper respect to everyone, love the family of believers (brotherhood—kjv), fear

God, honor the emperor” (v.16-17)   

v.18-25   

SLAVES—AD 64, EMPLOYEES—21st CENTURY   

It is true some in the modern context of employment end up with wicked employers/managers — Believers are admonished to submit though they suffer doing good; just like Christ did.   

“He committed no sin, and no deceit was found in his mouth.” [v.22; Isaiah 53:9]. He never retaliated.    

“‘He himself bore our sins’ in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; ‘by his wounds you have been healed.’  For “you were like sheep going astray,’  but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.” [v.24-25 ref. Isaiah 53:4,5,6]   

CHAPTER 3^1-22   

WIVES; are expected to submit to their husbands, even those who have unbelieving husbands — should live with purity and reverence for them thereby winning them over for the Lord.   

Women should nurture their own self and spirit presenting themselves as gentle and quiet.   

v.5 — It has been like this in bible stories grandma's we admire; — Sarah is a perfect example; she obeyed and called Abraham lord. Let us confidently emulate her being daughters (read v.6).    

HUSBANDS also have their parts to play — you should be considerate, respect your wives as weaker vessels and as heirs together of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers. (v.7)   

• These brief advises are core virtues marriage thrive on; that also evoke blessings on togetherness. The women are judge thereby so are the men.

ADVANCING THE BROTHERHOOD:— be like-minded, sympathetic, love, be   

compassionate and humble, do not retaliate, repay evil with blessings — this is your calling and you thereby inherit a blessing.   

“Whoever would love life and see good days must keep their tongue from evil and their lips from deceitful speech.” (v.10);   

Turn from evil, do good, seek peace; “For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous and his ears are attentive to their prayer, but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” {(v.12) v.11-12; Psalm 34^12-16}.   

NOTE THAT IT IS TYPICAL FOR BELIEVERS TO SUFFER; but do not   

fear, esteeming Christ — be prepared to give an answer to everyone who ask you to  give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect” (v.15)   

SLANDER IS A WEAPON THEY COMMONLY USE; they will come to shame.  “For   

Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God. He was put to death but made alive in the spirit.” v.18: Then some spiritual things happened so that Christ impacted imprisoned spirits, remember the time of Noah? Then those saved by water were only eight (8) —been symbolic — This is the salvation we now have through water baptism — powered by the resurrection of Jesus

Christ who is now positioned at God’s right hand with the host of heaven (v.19-22)    

• WATER BAPTISM IS A PLEA FOR CLEAR CONSCIENCE (v.21)   
• By now we must understand that the communication in the bible is often symbolic

CHAPTER 4^1-19   

FORSAKE EVIL HUMAN DESIRES, LIVE FOR GOD   

“Therefore, since Christ suffered in his body, arm yourselves also with the same attitude, because whoever suffers in the body is done with sin.” v.1   

Get it over with pagan-like acts of debauchery, lust, drunkenness, orgies, carousing, detestable idolatry, recklessness, wild living, this refrain will jolt them and they will curse you but they have incurred God’s wrath — always remember that he is the judge of the living and the dead (v.3-6)   

• Are you ever concerned about how the dead will be judged? (see v.6)

v.7 — The end is near. Be alert, be sober, pray more; above all love each other with grace.  Present yourselves as people whose service (expression of gifts and talents) is helped by God. “So that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ.” v.11   

THE TAG CHRISTIAN is truly the cause of many suffering today, as it was then.  Thus, if you are insulted “because of the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory and of God rest on you.” v.14   

v.15-19   

See to it that you do not suffer for the same reasons they suffer — murder, theft, nosy poking busybodies. God’s judgement is on  —starting with the church, many are failing. How worse then is it for the pagans!   

CHAPTER 5^1-14   

ATTENTION ELDERS, here is an appeal — “To the elders among   

you, I appeal as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ’s suffering who also will share  in the glory to be revealed: Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care” (v.12a); watching willingly (not for money, advantages or gains), persuading not commandeering— lead by lifestyle.  Now that you are called shepherds anticipate rewards from the Chief Shepherd — you will get a “crown of glory that will never fade”.

(v.4)   

Likewise, the younger should submit to the older because “God opposes the proud but shows favor to the humble.” v.5   

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.” v.6-7   

v.8-9 — “Be alert, and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a  roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” (v.8).  Resist him and stand firm in the

faith and be assured you are not alone. God will come through for you, he will restore you after you have suffered a little while he will make you perfect, stable, strengthen, and settle you. (v.10)   

v.12-14 — Peter closing his letter shares greetings — with some mentions (v.12-13). Sharing grace and peace he instructs on affection — Greet one another with a kiss of love (v.14)—Always remember culture; what is affection in your society.
