Day 24. 24th January Bible Commentary And Summary With Dr. Toyin Taken From The Book Of Job.
I KNOW MY REDEEMER LIVETH
JOB CHAPTERS 19-21.
CHAPTER 19;
JOB UNLEASHED:
v.1-2. How long will you torment me, you crush me shamelessly?!
v.3-4. He thinks his friends believe he had some secret sins. He insist that would not be their concern and he should be left alone.
v.7. He laments over a lack of justice as we do in our societies today
RELATIONSHIPS DO NOT GROW ON TREES, nor do we frame them up.
He misses his relationships; as he feels alienated; from family, acquaintances & close friends. (v.13-15).
Difficult Staff.
v.16. His servants have become unwilling.
Even his wife resents him (v.17).
Job didn't say too much but what he has said and what we know to have happened is enough. Staff, especially in a sole proprietorship as in the case of Job, are the least dependable, even in conglomerates and multinationals I doubt commitment when 80-90 percent have suddenly died. A wicked problem interferes with staff; because if Human Resources is hit everything is hit. If human resources (which is the main capital of any organisation) thrive other resources have the propensity to flourish.
A CALL TO PERSONAL HYGIENE FOR JOB
- {for everybody really} — His wife complains of his bad breath. I wonder if he had sores in his mouth, or his disease cause bad breath as some illnesses do. His illness hampers his relationships, and now his wife does not really desire him anymore. Good oral health and personal hygiene help.
A PLEA TO HIS FRIENDS
(v.21-22). I think it’s unnecessary though vindicating!
I stopped having best friends. I just now believe in being pleasant.
JOB's BEST BOOST AND BOAST (my opinion):
I KNOW MY REDEEMER LIVETH
AND
I BELIEVE IN RESURRECTION v.25-27 This is the best boost so far?! Have you ever heard 'encourage yourself in the Lord' — That's the height of it!
CHAPTER 20:1-29
Zophar replies;
Your words are dishonoring, therefore I will reply ( please see verses v.1-29).
a few extracts
v.5. The joy of the wicked & hypocrite is brief ....
v.15. He will spit out the riches he swallowed; God will make him vomit them
v.19. For he has oppressed the poor and left them destitute; ....
he has seized properties he does not own .....
v.22. ....Distress will overtake him; the full force of misery will come upon him ...
v.27. The heavens will expose his guilt; the earth will rise up against him. ...
v.29. Such is the fate God allots the wicked, the heritage appointed for them by God.
To avoid this we shall shun evil, and run away from wicked people.
CHAPTER 2:11-30
Job replies; let me speak now afterward continue to mock me.(v.2-3).
MY COMPLAINT IS NOT TO MAN.
(v.6-13). But I wonder why should the wicked enjoy and be at ease YET THEY RESIST GOD; v.14, (v.14-18).
.... from ancient time this fact has been observed and just like Job said in (v.19-21). The evil is stored up for their children. But why? They should have their punishment for their sins. Many will wittily commit sin if they know they would get away with it. They care less who inherits their punishment. Our peace as Christians is our connection to the cross; Christ who died shamefully and he rose up again; broke the chains of sin and it's consequences.
What do you think? Job thinks it is better for them (the wicked & the hypocrites) to be punished during their own lifetime (v.20-21). But again God knows best! (v.22-26). v.34. So how can you console me with your nonsense? Nothing is left of your answers but falsehood!
NIGHT:
The eye is the window of the soul, but Job’s friends couldn’t see as bare as he was.
Pray “Let me not be ashamed, O Lord; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave. Let the lying lips be put to silence; which speaks grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous” Psalms 31:17-18
