Day 205. 24th July Commentary With Dr Toyin Ojo Taken From The Book Of Isaiah Chapter 44-48.
IRREVOCABLE LOVE.
ISAIAH 441-28
This chapter speaks of the worthless state of idols. Giving vivid progression of the craftsman’s use of wood ( tress planted ) once fell — Cypress or Oak been some if the finest;
· Firstly a tree is planted and grown, then cut and;
· Then portioned, some used as fuel for burning, some as wood for cooking and a portion he craves skilfully into a god for the temple and worships that — how foolish that is — believing a lie.
FORGET ME NOT❗️we do not need to put through a reminder for god — as unlike many relationships you may need to and send a bouquet of flowers which echoes ‘forget me not’ to keep yourself on people’s mind.
God endears us to himself;
“Remember this things , Jacob,
for you, Israel, are my servant.
I have made you, you are my servant;
Israel, I will not forget you.” (v.21).
· He made us
· He endears us to himself
· He will not forget us
· He has forgive us and swept away all our sins in his redemptive grace like the morning mist they are gone. Let’s abide in that redemptive grace.
· He makes us prophets, as we speak it is established. (Read v.25-28). We are his Cyrus, Jerusalem and Judah.
· He has redeemed us, shall rebuild us, and restore us.
Dearly beloved all this is too much to throw away , let’s heed God’s call.
“This is what the LORD says —
your Redeemer, who formed you in the womb:
I am the LORD
the Maker of all things,
who stretches out the heavens,
who spreads out the earth by myself,” (v.24).
ISAIAH 451-25
CHOSEN SUMMONED AND HONOURED:-
God has chosen us irrevocably, like he did Cyrus in this prophecy; even when we are distracted — thus his done in his righteousness and love for us.
“I declare from ancient times things to come,
There is no God else besides me; I just God and a saviour, there is none beside me.
Turn unto me and be saved,
all you ends of the earth;
for I am God, and there is no other.” (v.21&22).
ISAIAH 46
The shaming of Idols as they require carriages to carrying their gods — even the animals used get tire and weary of them! God endears us to think of him and continue to ponder on his ancient miracles.
CONSIDER HIS LONG-TERM PLANS; some of which has been fulfilled, some are been fulfilled and some without fail will be fulfilled.
Read v.9-11.
“ Remember the former things of old: for I am God, and there is non else; I am God. and there is none like me. Declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying my counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: Calling a ravenous bird from a far country: yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it.” (v.9-11).
Let’s not be stouthearted, but accept his righteousness, salvation, so that his glory manifest in us.
ISAIAH 471-15
Merciless and cruel Babylon will be destroyed. Because during the time of God’s wrath, they dealt with Israel without mercy - young and old were severely misused.
They have confidence in wickedness.
v.4 “As for our Redeemer, the LORD of host is his name, the Holy One of Israel” let Babylon “stand now with their enchantment, and with the multitude of thy sorceries” v.12.
Let it be our Redeemer Vs every Babylon of life opposing/abusing/misusing us. The LORD God has spoken evil will overtake them, their sorceries and enchantments will fail.
Isaiah 481-11
ONLY IN TRUTH AND RIGHTEOUSNESS can we serve God else we defame him — and how can this be. God will not allow that —,
and as Israel wondered into idolatry God will cause their enemies to triumph over them an indication of his withdrawal from them.
We don’t have to go through the furnace of affliction, to know and honour the true and living God.
“Behold I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction. For mine own sake, even for my own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted❓and I will not give my glory to another.” v.10-11.
NIGHT:
How would you like to learn; Trusting and obeying and waiting on the LORD God Shaddai or through the furnace of affliction❓ Let us reflect and lean on God wholly. “Behold I have refined thee, but not with silver; I have chosen thee in the furnace of affliction. For mine own sake, even for my own sake, will I do it: for how should my name be polluted❓and I will not give my glory to another.” Isaiah 4810-11. Make a declaration of faith to wholeheartedly follow the LORD God — SHADDAI.
