Day 206. 25th July Commentary With Dr Toyin Ojo Taken From The Book Of Isaiah Chapter 48-52.

ATTENTION — AT EASE.

CHAPTER 4812-22

THE FIRST AND THE LAST;

This is one of the ways God introduces himself to us. Calling on the attention of his people he introduced himself:

“… I am he; I am the first and I am the last. My own hand laid the foundation of the earth, and my right hand spread out the heavens;  when I summon them, they all stand up together.” v.12-13.

He will defeat Babylon ( the problems, threats, and all that hold us captive and those that deprive us our rights.

God Our Teacher

He teaches us the way to go and his righteous judgement but our lack of attention paved way to attack.

“O that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments (“If only you had paid attention” — NIV} , then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness {well-being (niv)} as the waves of the sea” v.18

(v.20-22)

We ought to be jubilant—spreading this promise confidently, declaring our freedom and his yester-works!  We are redeemed

“There is no peace for the wicked” v.22.

It is therefore correct to rejoice while claiming these promises—receiving it.

ISAIAH 491-26

Cx4 — The Four (4) Big Cs are the language of LOVE — the language of GOD! — Come, Comfort, Compassion, Covenant.

These are the words of the LORD to the people spoken by the prophet Isaiah.

‘He said unto me, “You art my servant,

Israel, in whom I will display my splendor.”’ v.3.

Although God’s people get entangled from time to time because of disobedience, yet he will command his love and favour but we must heed his call — and come.  Then he immediately begins to comfort us, enjoying his compassion and enter into a covenant relationship with our maker. The great redeemer who delivers from warriors, swift and oppressors

“Shall the prey be taken from the captives of the mighty, or the lawful captive delivered?  But this saith the LORD, Even the captive of the mighty shall be taken away, and the prey of the terrible shall be delivered: for I will contend with him that contendeth with thee, and I will save thy children.” v.24-25.

CHAPTER 501-11

NO TRADE BY BARTER!

God proclaims his steadfast love. He does not trade his own. Neither does he divorce unlike earthly husbands. But disobedience endangers his own people.

‘This is what the LORD says:

“Where is your mother’s certificate of divorce

with which I sent her away?

Or to which creditors did I sell you?

Because of your sins you were sold;

because of your transgressions your mother was sent away.”’ v.1.

WAKING WITHOUT ALARM; The LORD helps all who depend on him following his precepts. He enables their tongues, ears and controls he timing of their life. They can say;

“Because the Sovereign LORD helps me,

I will not be disgraced.

Therefore have I set my face like a flint,

and I know I will not be put to shame.

He who vindicates me is near.

Who then will bring charges against me?

Let us face each other!

Who is my accuser?

Let him confront me!” v.7-8.

The world is full of corruption, manipulation & hate, we need this level of help in every step of the way!

CHAPTER 511-23

GOD’s CALL, COMFORT & COMPASSION AGAIN SPOKEN — as guaranteed as we follow righteousness and seek the LORD.

“Hear me, you who know what is right,

you people who have taken my instruction to heart:

Do not fear the reproach of mere mortals

or be terrified by their insults.

Those the LORD has rescued will return.

They will enter Zion with singing;

everlasting joy will crown their heads.

Gladness and joy will overtake them,

and sorrow and singing will flee away.” v.7&11.

Humans lay the foundations for houses they live in, God laid the foundations of the earth! (Read v.16).

The troubles you have had will go to those tormented, oppressed, abused and misused you.  (Read v.21-23).

CHAPTER 521-20

OUR SUFFERING IS DISHONOURING THE LORD therefore our rising is prophesied as it is with Zion. And we will never be defiled or oppressed again

“Awake, awake, put on thy strength, put on thy beautiful garments, … Shake thyself from the dust; loose thyself from the bands … For thus saith the LORD, Ye have sold yourself for nought; and ye shall be redeemed without money.” v.1-3.

Egypt oppressed & Assyria too but now we are free from those chains for

“… when the LORD returns to Zion,

they will see it with their own own eyes.

Burst into songs of joy together,

you ruins of Jerusalem.” v.8-9.

NIGHT:

“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast

And have no compassion on the child she has borne?

Though she may forget,

I will not forget you!

See I have engraved you on the palms of my hands;

Your walls are ever before me.” 4915-16

God’s love is a vow, believe in it.
