Day 207. 26^th July Commentary With Dr Toyin Ojo Taken From The Book Of Isaiah Chapter 52-57.

LAPIS LAZULI.

When God swings into action; the divine restoration promised is unfathomable we will enjoy emotional stability and healing and be so abundantly blessed — so much love and outpouring of love the building of us will be of precious stones and our foundations of lapis lazuli!

ISAIAH 52^13-15, 53^1-12,

Here the prophet Isaiah tells of the personhood of Christ among us — his suffering, pain and affliction so much he is forsaken.  Through it all he did not speak to defend himself bearing our sins.

“He was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth:…” v.5&7.

His death and buried also prophesied (v.8-9).

ISAIAH 54^1-17

My heart bleeds as I read through this chapter;  The reality of the suffering of Israel exposed.

·      Women lost their children and many became widows.

The prophecy and use of the suffering and restoration of women to speak forth is both real and figurative for Israel. Even for modern crime and crisis women bear the brunt.

He LORD has promised a unique relationship; he will be in the position of a Maker and a Husband.  The barren will conceive; for his anger is just for a moment — never will he allow this kind of suffering again just as covenanted with Noah v.9 never to destroy the earth again.

These blessings and redemption cover our children(v.13) too.

“… you will forget the shame of your youth

and remember no more the reproach of your widowhood.

For your Maker is your husband—

…

the Holy One of Israel is your Redeemer;

he is called the God of the earth.

For a brief moment I abandoned you

but with deep compassion I will bring you back.

… with everlasting compassion

says the LORD your Redeemer.

All your children will be taught of the LORD,

and great will be their peace.

No weapon forged against you will prevail,

and you will refute every tongue that accuses you.

This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD,

and this is their vindication from me.” v.4-5,7-8,13&17.

ISAIAH 55^1-13.

Come Will You?  You wicked, Sinners Godless —

The prophet speaks of the Almighty Call For You!  He is ready for a covenant relationship with you;

“Let the wicked forsake their ways

and the unrighteous their thoughts.

Let them turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on them, …

For my thoughts are not your thoughts,

neither are your ways my ways,” (v.7&8).

In heeding this call you should reflect on the life he gave David — abiding faithfulness, long-life, good health, honour and abundance; so will our lives yield.

“You will go out in joy

and be led forth in peace; …

Instead of thornbush will grow the juniper…

for an everlasting sign ,

that will endure forever.” v.12-13.

ISAIAH 56^1-12

ALL WELCOME ❗️

God has extended his territory, interest, influence therefore love beyond Israel in this prophecy—this is preceded by the personhood of Christ and his death — who champions the world.

In like manner, God removes the foreigner tag from all who come to him doing his bidding (Read v.3&6).

Spared Evil: God describes the influential in the society as;

“Dogs with mighty appetites that never have enough who seek their own gain” v.11.

I beseech you as you devote yourself to God’s word God is taking you to highs unfathomable — do God’s bidding when you get there.

CHAPTER 57^1-21

The wickedness in our world lead to early departure of saints (v.1-2).

No joy in idolatry and divination — Those who serve idols and go after Molek - or any form of evil and idolatry find no real satisfaction but refuse to say; pretentiously they embolden themselves (Read v.9-10).

God through his prophet say we abuse his silence—His patience. (Read v.11).

But if we now take refuge in the LORD, ours will be built up for

‘“it will be said:

“Build up, build up, prepare the road!

Remove the obstacles out of the way of my people.” v.14.

God is everywhere! God is present at the highest heights and with the lowly to revive them because he will forgive.

If only the embezzlers would have a change of heart — God is waiting to forgive them but if not the LORD will toss them like;

“the tossing sea which cannot rest …

There is no peace, says the LORD, for the wicked” (v.20-21).

NIGHT;

For further reflection: Isaiah 54¹⁰

‘“Though the mountains be shaken

and the hills be removed,

yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken

nor my covenant of peace be removed,”

says the LORD, who has compassion on you.”

May our hearts find strength in the divine love which is available always for us in Christ name - amen.
