Day 209. 28th July Commentary With Dr Toyin Ojo Taken From The Book Of Isaiah Chapter 63-66, 2 Kings, And 2 Chronicles.

Heaven Is My Throne!

ISAIAH 6315-19

A FATHER AND REDEEMER:—

The people’s cry for mercy spoken for by the prophet Isaiah — Demanding God to

“look down with zeal and might, tenderness and compassion” v.15

According to his redeeming might from time unknown;

“Abraham does not know us

or Israel acknowledge us;

you, LORD, are our Father,

our Redeemer from of old is your name.” v.16.

ISAIAH 641-25

THE CLAY AND THE POTTER

Here the prophet speaks of the cry and submission of the Clay ( Israel ), to the Potter v.8 ( the Almighty God ).

Announcing his awesomeness they say

“Since ancient times no one has heard,

no ear has perceived,

no eye has seen any God besides you,

who acts on behalf of those who wait for him”. v.4.

They say in prayers “Look on us” for God had given them over to their sins (v.7,9).

ISAIAH 651-25

I CALLED BUT YOU DID NOT ANSWER

All those who heed the call will enter into God’s abundance, and rest, they will;

“sing out of the joy of their hearts” v.14

But those who ignored his call for repentance will wail in brokenness of heart (v.14).

A NEW EARTH

“See I will create

new heavens and a new earth.

The former things will not be remembered,

nor will they come to mind”.  v.17 — This verse happen to be one of the most controversial scripture among the various Christian denominations and movements. While some are still expecting a new heaven and a new earth some believe it is already here.

But you will agree with me that Isaiah’s prophesies make great literatures; they are not literal. I find some figurative, and some rather spiritual.

ENJOYMENT AND LONGEVITY

This is the promise of God (Read v.20-24)

“Before they call I will answer;

while they are still speaking I will hear”. v.24.

ISAIAH 661-24

I LIKE THOSE WHO TREMBLE AT MY WORD says the LORD.

What weight do you give to the word of the LORD in your act — your living?

God now declares his disinterest in sacrifices and incense burning (v.3-4).

The LORD will bring forth ease for his people —

“peace like a river and the wealth of nations like a flooding stream …. As a mother comforts her child,

so will I comfort you;

and you will be comforted over Jerusalem.

When you see this, your heart will rejoice

and you will flourish like grass;

the hand of the LORD will be made known to his servants,

but his foes his indignation”. v.12-14.

His wrath in judgement his foes, and those who follow them (v.16).  Read about his wrath (v.18-24).

2Kgs 2020-21, 2 Chro 3232-33

Hezekiah’s Successor; after the king slept, his son Manasseh succeeded him as king.

NIGHT:

Isaiah 6520

“Never again will there be in it

an infant who lives but a few days,

or an old man who does not leave out his years;

the one who dies at hundred

will be taught a mere child;

the one who fails to reach a hundred

will be considered accursed”.

Fellow believers, we’ve come a long way with the LORD — the God of Israel. Together let’s repent and lift up our voices to the LORD, and ask him to look down on us and remove sicknesses and diseases that is claiming lives, let it not be said again among humans that there is an illness without cure.

Let’s claim the longevity spoken in some of the last prophesies of beloved prophet Isaiah.
