Day 306. 2nd November Bible Commentary With Dr. Toyin  Ojo Taken From The Book Of Mark, Matthew, Luke And John.

FIELD OF BLOOD

MARK 1453-65, MATTHEW 2657-68

NO EVIDENCE

“The chief priests and the whole Sanhedrin were looking for evidence against Jesus so that they could put him to death, but they did not find any. Many testified falsely against him, but their statements did not agree.”v.55-56

Eventually, another false testimony that thwarts Jesus's words was given with claims that he said “I will destroy this temple made with human hands and in three days will build another, not made with hands.” v.58

  • The High Priest Gave Room To The People So That Jesus Was Relentlessly Scorned And He Also Pressured Jesus to answer, but Jesus remained silent.

Furthermore, he asked him “Are you the Messiah, the Son of the Blessed One?”

Jesus replied affirming that with positive notions—

“I am, And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.” v.62

  • At this, he (Caiaphas the high priest) became what I will describe as the most hypocritical and dramatic high priest ever! – tearing his clothes in disbelief of Jesus’ acclamation.

These gave room to the acrimony they had built up and it was agreed he is worthy of death for blasphemy. (see. v.63-64).

Hence the people began to physically abuse Jesus – “spat on him, blindfolded him, struck him with their fist and said ‘Prophesy!’ And the guards took him and beat him.” v.65.

Clearly when an individual is treated this way; it is correct to conclude that there was no order in the process, and therefore there cannot be justice.  The Sanhedrin and the People were not guided by law, but hate, prejudice, revenge, jealousy, and insecurity.

MARK 1466-72, MATTHEW 2669-75, LUKE 2254-62, JOHN 1825-27

PETER IN TEARS1472e as he immediately realized he had denied Jesus thrice when he heard the rooster crowed (Mk 1472).

“He began to call down curses, and he swore to them, ‘I don't know this man you are talking about’. Immediately the rooster crowed the second time.” v.71-72a

MARK 151, MATTHEW 271-2, LUKE 2266-71

THE WHOLE SANHEDRIN, THE CHIEF PRIEST, AND THE TEACHERS OF THE

LAW rose up early and handed him over to Pilate.

  • Jesus maintains his affirmative position – He is the Son of God.

.  “They asked ‘Are you then the son of God?’ He replied ‘You say that I am’” Lk 2270

MATTHEW 273-10

JUDAS’ HEART WAS GUILT STRICKEN so much he was unable to keep the 30 pieces of silver – when the money was not received back from him, — “he threw the money into the temple and left. Then he went away and hanged himself” v.5.

  • It was quickly tagged BLOOD MONEY and the chief priests refused to keep that in the treasury – It was used to “buy the potter’s field as a burial place for foreigners. That is why it has been called the Field of Blood to this day”.

And the prophecy of Prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled – “They took the thirty pieces of silver, the price set on him by the people of Israel, and they used them to buy the potter’s field, as the Lord commanded me.” v.9-10. (Zechariah 1112,13, Jeremiah 191-13, 326-9)One Year Chronological Bible pg. 1387 footnote).

Between the Chief Priests, the Sanhedrin, and Judas it was a case of hypocrites Vs hypocrite.

NIGHT:

We must examine our deeds very carefully as Christians as many believers are fast opting for the Judas-lifestyle - given the hate adapted by the many cultures around the global hemisphere.

The desire to belong and the increasing need for recognition are all part of the selfgratifying move of Judas Iscariot. Which he could not live to regret.

Examine your ways tonight; we cannot hurt another just to fit in, play the game, and pass the ball; which defeats the whole essence of the cross on which we cling.

  •   Those who paid blood money could not accept a refund! Matthew 276

What is your role in the Body today?  Zechariah 1112,13

2Corinthians 1311. “Finally, brethren, farewell. Be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace; and the God of love and peace shall be with you.”
