Day 311, 7th November Bible Commentary With Dr. Toyin Ojo Taken From The Book Of Mark, Luke And Acts.
THE ASCENSION OF CHRIST
The Book of Acts of the Apostles comes now in the record of Biblical History and it is a major part of today’s devotion and study – The Ascension; How, and the events immediately after.
MARK 1619-20, LUKE 2450-53, ACTS 11-11
These books (the passages above) give accounts of the literal experience of Christ ascending into heaven after his Great Commission of the disciples and the empowerment meeting.
The presence of Jesus before his disciples in the environ of Bethany Judea ( Which is on the same axis with the River Jordan) defiled the laws of gravity as he “was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. They were looking intensely up into the sky as he was going when suddenly two men dressed in white stood beside them. ‘Men of galilee’ they said ‘why do you stand here looking into the sky? This same Jesus, who has been taken from you into heaven, will come back in the same way you have seen him go into heaven.’ ” Acts 19-11.
- While Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God.” Mk 1619,Lk 2451.
We understand now exactly how we expect Jesus’ return. (Read Bible Commentary Nov. 5, day 308, to see a possible different persuasion others may hold and why).
ACTS 112-26
PETER’S LEADERSHIP IN FULL FORCE
It was a noble speech, without biases that they fill up the gap Judas Iscariot had left.
The 11: ⁕Peter ⁕John ⁕James ⁕Andrew ⁕Philip ⁕Thomas ⁕Bartholomew
⁕Matthew ⁕James ⁕Simon Zealot ⁕Judas son of James were present. They congregate to prayer with women, Jesus’ mother, and his brothers (Acts 113-14).
WITH ABOUT A TOTAL OF 120 BELIEVERS present, Peter:
- Gave a brief narration; a recap on Judas, his woes, and the field of Blood (Acts 116-19).
- In steps with Christ, he had began referencing the old testament in his speech and spiritual declarations {(Act 120, Ps 6925, Ps 1098). “May his place be deserted… Let another take his place of leadership}.
- Imitating Christ he addressed the believers as Brothers and Sisters (Acts 116).
- He set criteria Act 121-22.
- There were two nominees (Joseph Barsabbas aka Justus and Matthias) They pray (v.24-25) the lot fell on Matthias (v.26).
ACT 21-13
THE PENTECOST EXPERIENCE — THIS IS THE PROMISE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT BEEN FULFILLED

ACT 25-13
PUBLIC CONFIRMATION
“Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven. When they did hear this sound, it crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one had their own language being spoken,…. Aren't all these who are speaking Galileans? Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language? …. we had them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues! …They asked what does this mean?” (v.5-12 extracts).
⁕They interpreted what was spoken as the wonders of God -Testimony, and declarations of the supernatural acts of God, howbeit in an unknown tongue to the speaker.
Yet some thought they had too much wine! (see v.13).
ACT 214-41
NO! THEY ARE NOT DRUNK
PETER CORRECTS THE DOUBTING CROWD:
His was a warning ( and or correction) and expository sermon.
Acts 214-16 — “listen carefully… these people are not drunk… it's only 9 in the morning! No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel" :
Exposition of the truths and prophets as he made detailed references to the prophecies of the Prophet Joel 216-21 in Acts 217-21.
“listen carefully… these people are not drunk… it's only 9 in the morning! No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and your daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. even on my servants, both men, and women, I will pull out my spirit in those days, and they will prophesy. I will show wonders… before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord. and everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
ACTS 238-41
A CALL FOR REPENTANCE
Peter’s message has convincing power; that on a single they 3000 people repented, received forgiveness of their sins, and were Baptised(v.41).
The apostolic ministry of the early disciples waxed strong with love, unity, sharing, signs, and wonders.
“They devoted themselves to the apostle's teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. All the believers shared things in common. They sold their property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.” V.42,44-45.
Equality and sincerity were their motto (v.46), Christ their mantra – thus they were identifiable as Christians.
They broke bread in fellowships, even house fellowships – “praising God and
enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.” v.47.
NIGHT:
How does your Church (Brand) defer in act(s) from the believers in Acts 244-47.
- Pray for the Leadership of your Church
- Pray for the body of Christ across the nations of our world.
